Unboxing the HTC S630 (Cavalier) / Dopod C730 - By Dovid Feldman
The device we unboxed was the Dopod C730, with the World Wide English Rom made for the European / Australian market. This HTC manufactured device should have the exact same specifications as the HTC S630 (Cavalier) and, as with other HTC devices, the same packaging as well.
The Good: The Dopod C730 (HTC Cavalier) has strong curb-appeal, high-speed 3G internet access, built-in Wifi, a 400 Mhz processor, and a very functional keyboard. The thin sleek design feels fantastic in your palm & your pocket. The bright screen is easy to read, even outdoors, and the excellent quad-band reception and phone integration means that you never have to sacrifice form for functionality.
The Bad: Although the Dopod C730 packs lots of punch, it is a bit larger than the S620 and has squarish corners. The default Today screen is a bit crowded with applications, and because this device also supports Chinese, the manuals all come in some variation of Mandarin.
The Bottom Line: Because the Dopod C730 has so many high-speed connectivity options coupled with a blazing fast processor, this new release really scores well. If you are looking for a thin, elegant Windows Mobile Smartphone that really has it all -- this is the device for you.
